Jack Shine


Jack Shine has developed and built residential and commercial projects for over 50 years. He is best known for the highly successful American Beauty Homes product built in Southern California since 1963.

A native of Los Angeles and a graduate of the University of Southern California, Mr. Shine entered the real estate industry in 1958.

A leader in the building industry, he served as President of the Building Industry Association of Southern California in 1986, and was named "Builder of the Year" by the Los Angeles Chapter in 1988. In 1991, he was again honored by BIA/SC as "Builder of the Year" for the entire region. He is a founder and past President of the Government Affairs Council.

Mr. Shine is a past president of the California Building Industry Association Political Action Committee and was the California BIA President in 1995. He is also a past Chairman of the National Association of Home Builders' PAC, and a past NAHB Vice President representing California and Hawaii, and served twice as chairman of the NAHB Federal Government Affairs Committee.

In 2001, by appointment of Governor Davis, Mr. Shine became a Board Member of the California Housing Finance Agency. He was then reappointed for another term by Governor Schwarzenegger.

In addition to his building industry activities, Mr. Shine is active in numerous community and philanthropic organizations. He is past President of the Los Angeles County Music and Performing Arts Commission, a Founder of the Music Center, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Opera Company. He currently serves as a member of the Los Angeles Opera League Speakers’ Bureau, personally delivering lectures on opera at middle schools, universities, senior homes and other civic organizations.

Mr. Shine is involved with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, serving as a member of the Steering Committee for its American Arts Council. He also serves as President of the Board of Directors of Habitat For Humanity serving North Los Angeles, a non-profit group building homes for low income families.

Daniel Shine

Daniel Shine brings a unique perspective to the company having grown up in the business. Mr. Shine has over 15 years of experience in real estate including entitlements, project underwriting, acquisitions, dispositions, financial analysis, and institutional relations.

Mr. Shine earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate at the University of Southern California. During his senior year he interned with Citation Homes, a major Southern California builder.

Upon graduation, he joined Absolute Post, Inc., a Burbank based post-production facility, as the Controller. He was later promoted to Vice President, Finance and Administration, overseeing all aspects of the day to day operations of the company.

In 1994 Mr. Shine came back into the real estate field and co-founded American Beauty Development Co. Initially, he took direct financial responsibility for all projects including procurement of financing sources and equity investments. He also managed the formation and funding of public facilities financing districts.

In 1996, he became responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s daily operations including finance, marketing, accounting and administration.

Additionally, Mr. Shine owns and operates Dealbuilder Inc., a real estate financial analysis software company. DealBuilder is used by builders and developers throughout the nation to financially underwrite their projects. He has also consulted with users to advise on structuring transactions and maximizing profitability.

He is a member of the Building Industry Association and the Urban Land Institute.

John Morrisette

John Morrisette became affiliated with the First Financial Group of companies in 1981. Since then, he has been involved in the approval of over 10,000 residential units.

For nearly a decade, Mr. Morrisette worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power specializing in soils, dam analysis and design, construction inspection, and water systems design for new developments.  Prior to joining First Financial Group, he served as Project Manager for a leading civil engineering company, acting as liaison between developer, engineer, and governing agencies.

In 1994 Mr. Morrisette co-founded American Beauty Development, LLC and manages the company’s entitlements, and participates in acquisitions, feasibility studies, and dispositions.

As an involved resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, Mr. Morrisette has served on the American Red Cross Board of Directors, and is a past member of the Canyon Country Chamber’s Education and Traffic Committees.  He was a member of the City of Santa Clarita’s General Plan Advisory Committee, the Santa Clarita River Task Force, the City’s Hillside Ordinance Committee, and served as a member of the City’s Civic Center Design Review Committee.
